Centre Foundation’s annual Field-of-Interest grant application is now open, offering $67,061 in grants.
Local charitable nonprofits and governmental agencies are encouraged to apply for funding from any of the 15 Field-of-Interest funds. Each fund supports a specific type of program, population, or geographic area, depending on the donors’ passions.
At Centre Foundation, each fund starts with a donor and a unique legacy. By establishing a fund, donors are able to make an impact in the areas that matter most to them.
The newest addition to the Field-of-Interest grant program is the Donna L. Litke Occupational Horse Therapy Endowment. This fund was established through Donna’s estate to support the maintenance and upkeep of horses used for occupational therapy in Centre County or in any of the six contiguous counties (Blair, Clearfield, Clinton, Huntingdon, Mifflin, and Union).
The Counseling Service, Inc. Fund continues the original mission of Counseling Service, Inc., which was sold in 1999. The proceeds were used to create this fund to ensure that mental health services would continue to be available. The fund supports behavioral and mental health services for Centre County residents.
The Philipsburg Area Fund was established in 2003 when a group of Philipsburg residents wanted to support the Philipsburg area but not be restricted to any one organization. This fund supports Philipsburg-area nonprofits and programs. Organizations who have received funding in the past include several local fire companies, food and clothing projects, and elementary school projects.
Twelve other funds are also available, which focus on education, health and social services, animal welfare, youth development, and the arts.
