“I knew what we were facing was potentially very different from what our friends were facing,” said Karen Marosi, Director of Student Engagement, Associate Teaching Professor in Earth and Mineral Sciences, and first time donor through Centre Gives.
Karen and Bill Marosi are long time residents of State College. Together as a family, they made an impact locally by gifting a portion of their stimulus check through Centre Gives, the Foundation’s annual 36-hour online giving marathon. Their donation this year to the State College Food Bank contributed to a record total for the organization which raised over $100,000. This year, Centre Gives as a whole raised $2,179,143 for over 175 local organizations.
“I found out about the Centre Gives campaign and that it was a way to leverage the donations. We wanted to help and we wanted our donation to do something good locally. This idea of addressing hunger, supporting families with dignity, and keeping it local was important.”
